The Club
Stafford Skater Hockey Club, or Stafford Sabotage as we are
known, was formed back in 1996 to address the problem some local children
were having in finding a safe place to roller blade.
The
former manager, Mrs Caron Letham, arranged for a coach to teach the
kids the game of roller hockey. They moved from playing in the local
playground to an indoor sports hall.
The kids
built up their own kit and we soon progressed to playing in friendly
matches against other teams in the region. We now enter the West Midlands
league each season.
We are
affiliated with the British Inline Skater Hockey Association (which
offers personal insurance) and the BiSHA Midlands Skater Hockey Association.
A strict code of conduct is operated and training for referees and coaches
is organised by the Association.
Our club
is run by the dedication of parents. All of our coaches have sons playing
the game. (Nick Bryan, our coach for the junior team, is a Level 1 qualified
coach.)
Stafford Skater Hockey Club feels that skater hockey is an excellent
opportunity for youngsters or all ages to be involved in and be part
of an organisation that develops discipline and, more importantly, the
opportunity to play and work and be part of a team.
